Player Cards
Player cards are the primary component of the game and are used to create 1v1 matchup battles between two players.
PRIMARY FEATURES
SPORT-FOCUSED ABILITIES
Each Player Card features Offensive & Defensive abilities that translate real-life action on the court to Ultimate Matchup game play, specifically shooting & defending from different spots on the floor: At The Rim (ATR), In The Paint (ITP), on Mid Range shots (MR), beyond the three-point line (3PT), & at the Free Throw line (FT).
PERFORMANCE-BASED RATINGS
Ability Ratings are determined using 40+ Advanced data points from the 2024-2025 season & a proprietary algorithm to generate a rating between 4 (weakest) - 10 (strongest) for each Offensive & Defensive ability that highlights real-life strengths and weaknesses on the court.
CARD MIRRORING
Ultimate Matchup Player Cards are uniquely designed to mirror offense vs defense abilities when placed head to head during a matchup, making it easy to compare values during an matchup and unlocking fast-paced gameplay.
Rare 5-Star Players
Bestowed to players with a top 5% overall ability rating, 5-star Player Cards represent the best of the best and create an instant advantage in any matchup.
The NBA launch edition includes 10 current players and 4 game changing legends, all of which can be found in Booster Packs with a 1 in every 4 pack rarity.

In the spirit of craftsmanship, each edition of Ultimate Matchup will feature rare & collectible original designs not from an AI generation, but from a real, human graphic artist with a passion for sport and what we are doing with the Ultimate Matchup game series.
The Launch Edition features original works by Leo Zarosinski of Portland, OR. Leo brings a fresh anime style design to the 14 highest rated Player Cards in the game to create the feeling of supernatural abilities to some of the biggest stars in the world of sport.
Ultra Rare Cards can only be found in Booster Packs and carry a 1/12 pack rarity - collect them all for a truly unique and winning set!
game impact cards
Tilt the odds of winning a matchup in your favor by using one of the 20 unique Game Impact Cards!
These in-game strategy cards offer risk/reward decisions, enhance your own player abilities, and can even diminish your opponent’s abilities for multiple possessions!
Game Impact Cards are limited use, which means they must be deployed thoughtfully, and at the right time, to have maximum impact on the matchup outcome!
Player Power Ups
Special abilities that have been bestowed to select groups of players based on the superlative performance on the court that unlock in-game advantages over your opponent.
Auto FT: Awarded to the top Free Throw shooters, this Power Up unlocks automatic makes on all Free Throw for this Player Card.
Ball Security: Awarded to those with the best Touch to Turnover ratio in the League, if this Player Card ever rolls a Turnover, roll again!
Clutch: If you or your opponent are within 3 pts of winning the game, this Player Card may be pulled from the discard pile and swapped with an unused card in your hand to be used on Offense. Limit 2x per game.
Fly Swatter: Awarded to the top shot blockers, when this Player Card wins a defensive matchup at the Rim or In the Paint, immediately attempt a shot At the Rim on Offense against the same opponent Player Card.
Poster Dunk: Awarded to players with a top Dunk Score, this Power Up applies to At the Rim shots - win the matchup, score the points, & demoralized your opponent by reducing their game score by -1.
Shut Down Defender: If you or your opponent are within 3 pts of winning the game, this Player Card may be pulled from the discard pile & swapped with an unused card in your hand to be used on Defense 2x per game.
Team Chemistry: Play with 3 or more players from the Same NBA team to unlock an additional 2 Game Impact Cards for use during gameplay.
